Poetry – Spoken to the night sky

I want to live in a house planted among

The wild sunflowers twice my height

I want to watch them grow until you stand eye to eye

with those buttered moons

I want to stain my teeth yellow

if it means we get to drink all the tea we want

Hidden from the snow outside

I want to twist off a clementine

Split between us

Leaving our fingers yellow and sweet.

I want to read you stories as the stars begin their night

My words safe and warm

Like the blanket pulled to your chin.

Only to wake up with the sun

To see you first
Bathed in a pool of golden light
